A Mother's Day Tribute
Thursday, May 10, 2007
It's been 23 years since my mother passed away. She was 30 years old at the time. Very much full of life, the sweetest person you could ever meet. Her disposition was certainly fairer than mine, but I still strive to emulate her kindness and ability to forgive everyone for just about everything.
She was beautiful on the inside as well as on the outside. My favorite memories of my mom involve music, dancing, and, yes, handbags. She was obsessed with bags as much as I am. Gucci was her passion, but flea market finds and funky suede hippie-style hobos really got her excited.
I miss her everyday of my life, and wish she'd been here to see me graduate, get married, see the birth of her grandson, and just be the rock that she was for all those she knew. Thank you, mom, for being the most kind, beautiful woman I've ever known. Thank you for always smiling, always loving, and always encouraging me to reach for the stars. Maybe one day I'll be able to touch one and realize you've been there all along.
